INSTALLATON AND MAINTENANCE OF CISA CYLINDERS

A CISA cylinder can also be installed independently if due diligence and the appropriate tools are used. Follow the instructions indicated below.
You will also find some useful tips on how to carry out routine maintenance on this page.

MAINTENANCE ADVICE

Lubrication

Lubricate the cylinder at least once a year using silicone lubricants (such as Loctite No. 116, Tunpro 40, WD-40)

Aligning the components

Make sure the lock and its locking elements (latchbolt and/or deadbolt(s)), door and frame are perfectly matched and aligned to optimise cylinder functioning.

If the key does not turn properly

Make sure the lock and its locking elements (latchbolt and/or deadbolt(s)), door and frame are perfectly matched and aligned to optimise cylinder functioning.

Removing impurities

Any grease, dust or cleaning residues must be wiped off with a damp cloth to prevent visual and corrosion damage.

Precautions and instructions for keys, Personal Cards and Security Cards

  • Do not leave the key inserted in the cylinder for obvious security reasons and because this prevents the use of the key from the opposite side, which is indispensable in an emergency (with the exception of clutch-type cylinders).
  • Do not use the key to pull or push the door.
  • Keep the spare cylinder keys and the Personal Card or Security Card, if present, in a safe and strictly private place.
  • If one or more keys, the Personal Card or the Security Card is lost or stolen, CISA advises replacing the cylinder(s) and key(s) immediately to ensure the same level of security.
  • Use original CISA keys only.
  • Use undamaged and clean keys only.
